Wondering through my small garden I stumbled across a branch and thought it would be a great idea to turn this into a chalk black necklace holder. This project was simple and added a great piece of décor to my room and finally a decent place to hang my few necklaces so they don’t get tangled.

What you need:Snapchat--5846805795845613953

  1. A branch that is not weak and or brittle.Snapchat-569039367384134253

  3. String/chain/rope/nails.
  4. Newspaper to prevent a mess.

What to do:

  1. Wipe the branch with a wet cloth/ rinse in bath or sink etc.Snapchat--878352927517361824
  2. Leave the branch to dry for 1 or 2 hours.Snapchat-6972457025352300326
  3. Apply one layer of chalk paint and wait for it to dry.20150402_114238
  4. Once dry add the second coat using a sponge.Snapchat--51054302590784451485. Once the second coat is dry you can either decide to hang it on the wall with the string, rope or chain by either tying it around the branch or stapling the string to the back. Another option is placing nails in the wall and place the branch on the nails.

6. Let it sit pretty on the wall and hang your gorgeous necklaces.Snapchat--4842064738845651844

DIY Tile Pot Plant

Putting use to those left over tiles making them a cheap, stylish and interesting addition to your home or office décor.

What you need:

  1. 5 tiles any size
  2. Glue gun with lots of glue sticks
  3. Chop stick, ice-cream stick or anything with a flat end
  4. And of course a plant

Tips:

  1. The tiles you use should not have cement on the back or anything on the back that makes it uneven (This is the mistake I made). If it does, remove it.
  2. Before gluing put the tiles together to make sure you won’t have any uneven sides or openings.
  3. Test the finished product by adding water to see if it leaks, if it leaks dry the pot and add more glue to that area.
  4. If it turns into a flop no problem pour boiling water over pot then pull apart.

Steps:

  1. Wash/wipe the tiles to remove the dust or any residue.
  2. Practice putting the pot together to make sure that it fits together perfectly.
  3. If they fit perfectly take two tiles put them together so they look like an L shape.
  4. Use the glue gun and glue on the area the two tiles connect. Not in.
  5. While the glue is still hot, take the flat ended object and wipe the glue so it spreads into any openings.
  6. Hold in place until glue dries which should be fast.
  7. You can now either make another L shape and then glue the two separate L shapes together or add the other tiles one at a time to the other sides that are not glued yet until it creates a square shape. Remember not to glue between but on the area the tiles connect.
  8. Now you have made the frame.
  9. Glue the last tile to the bottom.
  10. Now on the outside where the tiles connect add glue across it then, immediately take your flat ended object and wipe the glue repeating what you did on the inside. Make sure it doesn’t look messy by removing excess glue that spreads next to the gap line.
  11. Once glue has dried test your pot by filling it with water if leaks reapply glue to that area.
  12. Get planting.
